Thing is, getting raped by a horse is not a fucking fun little game, and Thor has seen the aftermath firsthand. He was heartbroken when the decision was made to move Jorgumand to Midgard’s seas. Fenric’s binding was a necessary evil, but no less painful for the fact. And Hel was not born half-dead, but half alive after a terrible accident mid-pregnancy caused Loki to start miscarrying.
Thor is aware his brother has gone completely off the deep end. He accepts that they must fight, and perhaps even kill each other. But there is shit he will not tolerate and is very very clear that the avengers better smarten the fuck up or else.

As the Avengers are taking Loki into custody, they come to realize that he is magically compelled to truthfully answer any question that he’s asked. (Can be due to anything–his own spell backfiring, secret SHIELD technology, it’s something that happens to Jotuns every sixteenth fall equinox, whatever.) Of course, certain Avengers decide to take advantage of this and certain humorous/disturbing/horrifying facts come to light.

Holy crap there is a giant wolf terrorizing downtown. Thor is screaming for his ‘nePhew’ to cease this at once! But to no avail.

In the middle of a skirmish, Loki spots a child in trouble and drops whatever he’s doing to go and help (maybe the kid’s lost their mum in the general rush to get out of the way, or is in a dangerous situation?). The Avengers look on as Loki immediately switches into protective, comforting mode and rescues/sits with the child until someone comes to collect them.
