Aragorn greets the birth of his first child with trepidation and doubt, but Gimli helps restore his faith in Legolas, himself, and their future. “Proud fool,” Gimli muttered, stalking along as fast as his short legs would allow. “Should never have let him continue on this quest. You never should have let him join us to begin with!” He gave another accusatory look to Aragorn. “Had I known he was with child, I might not have!” Aragorn snapped, stabbing his walking stick into the ground and continuing on, watching Legolas’s back ruefully.
