Oath Keepers

When Thor and Loki were kids - and when everything was simple and sweet and sunshine and rainbows - Thor promised his younger brother that when he’s crowned king, he’ll take Loki as his Queen/consort/spouse/whatever the hell kid!Thor might call it. And then the movie happened and Loki ended up being the Avengers’ #1 supervillain. So when Thor indeed is crowned the king of Asgard, everyone assumes he’ll marry Sif. And if he doesn’t marry Sif, then for sure he’ll marry Jane. Hell, he’s the king, he might even marry one of the many girls he’s bedded through the years. Instead - much to the eternal surprise of the Avengers, the Midgardian villains and Warriors Three - Thor goes and proposes to Loki. Loki is all “wtf, brother?”, but in reality he melts inside, because after everything (which was mostly bad) that had happened, Thor still wants to keep his promise.

Casualties of War

One of the Avengers (not Thor) has a child. Some bad guys go after the kid, maybe it’s a kidnapping for ransom, or maybe it’s just a revenge thing. The Avengers bust in to save the day and find that the bad guys have already been disposed of and the kid is happily playing with Loki. Loki, of course, plays it off like this is all part of his master plan. I want to see the parent (whoever it is) gradually realizing that Loki didn’t have an ulterior motive here. He saved the kid, no strings attached, because he knows what it’s like to lose a child.

Disengage

Loki is a jealous bastard but he does what he does believing it’s for the good of the Asgard. He gets kidnapped by the enemies and viciously tortured for information, they break him in every possible way but they CANNOT make him tell them the truth and what they really want to find out about Asgard. Odin, Thor and the rest believe though that he run away to join the enemy forces and sells them information, they disown him, curse his name etc. Cue a MASSIVE guit trip when they find Loki and the truth comes out.

What if Frost Giants hibernated? It’s the middle of the summer (Loki can’t deal with extreme heat, idk) and the Avengers are all on edge because the only time Loki leaves them alone for so long is when he’s planning something BIG. …and then they find him curled up in Thor’s closet.

Thing is, getting raped by a horse is not a fucking fun little game, and Thor has seen the aftermath firsthand. He was heartbroken when the decision was made to move Jorgumand to Midgard’s seas. Fenric’s binding was a necessary evil, but no less painful for the fact. And Hel was not born half-dead, but half alive after a terrible accident mid-pregnancy caused Loki to start miscarrying. Thor is aware his brother has gone completely off the deep end. He accepts that they must fight, and perhaps even kill each other. But there is shit he will not tolerate and is very very clear that the avengers better smarten the fuck up or else.

I Only Speak The Truth

As the Avengers are taking Loki into custody, they come to realize that he is magically compelled to truthfully answer any question that he’s asked. (Can be due to anything–his own spell backfiring, secret SHIELD technology, it’s something that happens to Jotuns every sixteenth fall equinox, whatever.) Of course, certain Avengers decide to take advantage of this and certain humorous/disturbing/horrifying facts come to light.

Holy crap there is a giant wolf terrorizing downtown. Thor is screaming for his ‘nePhew’ to cease this at once! But to no avail. Loki shows up, tickles wolfie on the chin and goes “Oh honey did you miss me? it’s ok mummy is here! Who’s my cute little wolfie huh? You are yes you are whatchu doing downtown bebe? Oh Sweetie, is that for me? ”

Someone In Need

In the middle of a skirmish, Loki spots a child in trouble and drops whatever he’s doing to go and help (maybe the kid’s lost their mum in the general rush to get out of the way, or is in a dangerous situation?). The Avengers look on as Loki immediately switches into protective, comforting mode and rescues/sits with the child until someone comes to collect them.
