When Odin took Loki from the temple he didn’t realise he was taking the Jotun queen, the one who is supposed to breed the next generation of Jotun warriors by laying hundreds of eggs at a time.
When Loki comes of age he decides Stark Tower is an ideal place for a nest, and the Avengers would make perfect drones.

After they learn Loki survived the fall from the Bifrost, Odin and Thor learn a great deal about Jotuns that they weren’t aware of before, and they come to believe that a lot of Loki’s madness stems from the suppression of Loki’s Jotun nature and sexuality.
Thor was sent to Earth to help Loki. That’s what he’s going to do, whether Loki likes it or not. The newly formed Avengers are roped into helping out, and team bonding happens an entirely different way.

Loki has a plan to take over Earth using an army of new monster babies that he will make himself. He hides at Victor Von Doom’s place while he puts his plan into action, only Victor notices that the more babies he has, the more the plan derails.
Neither Victor nor the Avengers were quite prepared for Loki’s procreation schedule, but they stick it out like good bros for the kids’ sakes.

One big redemption arc later, Loki is no longer the enemy, but Thor is pretty much the only Avenger to trust or like him. When Odin requests the Avengers’ presence on Asgard he orders a very reluctant, resentful Loki to do it instead, since Loki has a very unique knowledge of the secret paths between the Nine Realms. Unfortunately, Loki generally takes the … scenic route between dimensions. So he has to guide six egotistical, volatile superheroes through the Nine Realms and all its otherworldly dangers, and somehow get them to Asgard alive.
Thor is delighted - inter dimensional road trip! Magnificent quests! The perfect bonding experience for his BFFs and little brother! Everyone else … less so.

For once, Loki isn’t looking to cause any trouble. He’s just quietly munching on cherries and then tying the stems into knots with his tongue, to the surprise, embarrassment, or arousal of whoever notices this strange habit. The best part: Loki has NO IDEA that what he’s doing could be considered sexual. It’s just an odd habit that he has.

When Thor and Loki were kids - and when everything was simple and sweet and sunshine and rainbows - Thor promised his younger brother that when he’s crowned king, he’ll take Loki as his Queen/consort/spouse/whatever the hell kid!Thor might call it.
And then the movie happened and Loki ended up being the Avengers’ #1 supervillain.
So when Thor indeed is crowned the king of Asgard, everyone assumes he’ll marry Sif. And if he doesn’t marry Sif, then for sure he’ll marry Jane. Hell, he’s the king, he might even marry one of the many girls he’s bedded through the years. Instead - much to the eternal surprise of the Avengers, the Midgardian villains and Warriors Three - Thor goes and proposes to Loki. Loki is all “wtf, brother?”, but in reality he melts inside, because after everything (which was mostly bad) that had happened, Thor still wants to keep his promise.

One of the Avengers (not Thor) has a child. Some bad guys go after the kid, maybe it’s a kidnapping for ransom, or maybe it’s just a revenge thing.
The Avengers bust in to save the day and find that the bad guys have already been disposed of and the kid is happily playing with Loki.
Loki, of course, plays it off like this is all part of his master plan. I want to see the parent (whoever it is) gradually realizing that Loki didn’t have an ulterior motive here. He saved the kid, no strings attached, because he knows what it’s like to lose a child.

Loki is a jealous bastard but he does what he does believing it’s for the good of the Asgard. He gets kidnapped by the enemies and viciously tortured for information, they break him in every possible way but they CANNOT make him tell them the truth and what they really want to find out about Asgard.
Odin, Thor and the rest believe though that he run away to join the enemy forces and sells them information, they disown him, curse his name etc. Cue a MASSIVE guit trip when they find Loki and the truth comes out.
